It’s Monday, November 20, 2017. More than that, it’s a special day for me. In a few hours, I will be driven to Spectra Eye Institute P.I.C. in Sun City, Arizona. I’m going to have eye surgery in my right eye.
Although that’s probably not one of the most important news in ‘your world,’ it has been on my mind for a few months. (more so as the fearful day approaches.)
When I shared my apprehension with folks, many of whom have had cataract surgery done, they assured me it was something to be both very thankful for and not too worried.
Isn’t it always that way? When we experienced such potential traumatic events, we know such fears are usually unfounded. It’s a common procedure. However, the benefits are usually fantastic, well worth any minor inconvenience.
I know all this. I’ve had my share of ‘never-before-experiences.’ But still…
But… to more immediate events. Well, not exactly earth-shattering, but Bernie and Chris gave me a Before and After experience this past couple of days.
It has to do with the weather.
It’s been less than sixty degrees when I take the dogs for their morning exercise. It is ‘wool cap, full winter coat and long pants with layered clothing’ weather for me.
The winter visitors strut around in shirt sleeves while I look like I’ve just exited the cold storage freezer at Costco.
I gathered the dirty clothes and walked through the bedroom on my way to the laundry room. Here’s what I found….
That’s my bed, and both dogs are enjoying it. It is their normal position when they are inside.
When the weather turns cold; Like it’s been these past two mornings, an entirely different pair of dogs emerges.
I should be thankful they don’t do this inside my cramped park model.
That’s just about the only activity we have had for the past few days.
With Thanksgiving approaching, I have a lot to be grateful for.
I am grateful for Bernie and Chris. They continue to give me a sense of peace and joy.
I am grateful for my friends who continue to support me and writing efforts.
And I am grateful to the technology that will provide me improved eyesight.
